For Sale: 1956 VW Beetle

man, i am so close... one of three things will happen...

1. i sell it and park the sti in the garage where it belongs....

2. i pull the engine and tranny, or tow the whole thing to charlotte and tell them to make it work...

3. i start taking things apart and it never gets back together...

every time i touch it, it manages to get worse...

wrong car

ok, ok, not exactly the bug, but hey, it's minor work on a car.... put some mudflaps on the STI, maybe it'll help save the paint... now i'm ready to hit the rally trail...

sludge change

changed the oil yesterday, it was a tad black, and there was a small amount of sludge on the inside of the cover plate... i would have posted a picture of the sludge, but it was unfit for the internet... it was about the consistency of pancake batter...


Seems to run a bit better once it started up, still speeds up and slows down at idle... gaskets are next on the manifolds and carb....

timing and fun with stickers

So annoying... went to time the monster 36, and of course the battery was dead... not just really low, DEAD!!! charged it up enough to hook up a timing bulb... the timing was way off, looks like they might have timed it to 10 degrees before the notch, but everything i read said to time it to the notch in the pulley... didn't bother to try to start it up since i'll be gone for 6 weeks...

while i was waiting for the battery, i stuck some vintage stickers on it... it's a vintage road racer! subhashni is not a fan...
